Why is it that everyone writes a bit about themself in their homepage? Okay, so rather than creating an oxymoron, here's a bit about myself, and heck, some pictures.

I started off feeling the 1980 air as a little baby in Summit, NJ, and lived in New Jersey with my parents until I was 3 or 4. We then mosied on down to Austin, TX where my grandparents were. When I was in fifth grade we moved to Saratoga, CA, where I lived until graduation. (Isn't the Golden Gate Bridge a beauty?) Golden Gate Bridge, SF, CA

I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Comp Sci (Course 6) at MIT. Some people feel that my three-lettered first name is too short, and have lengthened it to Amsie, Amsies, Amster, or Hamster (although, I will seek you out and torture you to death if you call me by the last one).

I survived my first year living 3,000 miles from home in sunny Cali, which I must say, has been a real learning experience. No more homemade Chinese meals, refreshing Jamba Juice smoothies, or stadium-seating movie theaters. Things haven't been all bad. Grocery shopping is actually kind of fun. If I had a car, shopping could be even more fun. Walking with a gallon of milk and a bag of groceries ceases to be fun after the second block. My cooking isn't great but I'd like to think it's getting better. Given a little more time, I might even graduate from boiling noodles to boiling vegetables!

Fascinated by this testimony to human survival? Read on...

Why did I decide to major in Course 6? I have absolutely no clue. Well, that's not 100% true. By the last year of high school, all I knew was what I didn't want to do. Through a process of eliminations (and luck), CS it was. I guess you could say that I'm a Course 6 major by default. But, honestly, programming can be fun. There is nothing like seeing a program that you spent 20+ hours on finally work. It's a lot of hard work, but I get that warm and fuzzy feeling when I finally solve the problem.

What do I do outside of school?... What are you talking about? CS subsumes all! =) Hmm... lately (over MIT's IAP), I've taken up pottery and glass blowing. (If you ask me, I can show you my cool paper weights and cups) I seem to dabble in whatever I do. Some things that I've tried in the past: gymnastics, tap dancing, ballet, jazz dancing, piano, cello, oil painting, watercolor, basketball, tennis, swimming, badminton, volleyball...the list goes on. I've tried just about everything! The only constant joys are watching movies, keeping up with my favorite shows, reading sappy Jane Austenian novels, walking by the polluted-yet-beautiful Charles, and humming along to top ten songs--pretending that I can sing. (Apparently this fantasy world thing doesn't work for me because I'm taking singing lessons next year) Oh! And of course, I love apple juice! =0Þ
